HB-35 Nikon Lens Hood

The HB-35 Nikon Lens Hood for 18-200mm Nikon lenses, clips onto the front of the camera lens and extends beyond it.  This is an aftermarket lens hood, offering the same quality as the genuine Nikon branded hood. Lens hoods serve two primary purposes: (1) reducing lens flare, and (2) protecting the lens from damage.  The intended purpose of the lens hood is simply to reduce lens flare, but the protection it provides to the glass elements of the lens is a beneficial side-effect.

Lens hoods are primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The “petal” shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. This dedicated lens hood is designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.
